In southeastern Texas is a city known as Stafford. It is positioned in the Houston Metropolitan Area and located 16 miles from downtown Houston. As of 2016, Stafford is populated by approximately 18,422 people according to the United States Census Bureau. Stafford is estimated to be one of the largest city in Fort Bend County.
Stafford began as a plantation in the early 1830s. A gentleman named William Stafford operated the plantation until 1836 when it was burned down during the Texas Revolution. When William Stafford rebuilt his plantation, a community grew around it. The community was known as Stafford’s Point and became a townsite in the mid-1850s. Eventually, Stafford’s Point became known as Stafford and the community grew throughout the late 1800s and early 1900s. In 1956, Stafford became an incorporated city.
Modern-day Stafford is a successful city. According to the City of Stafford website, “the City of Stafford is a dynamic, friendly community ideally located and encompassing what is described as an ‘Island of Business Opportunity’ and as a family-oriented place to live.” In Stafford, Texas, residents enjoy an excellent quality of life.
